4:28 am - This isn't an illusion.
Then again it could be, after all it is words on a page and you can't exactly reach out and ouch them.

I'm still alive and healthy, but haven't been posting anywhere much at all in the past year (or so.) Despite the fact I check up on my LJ friends daily. That isn't exactly fair, so once again I'm restarting my livejournaling.

What have I been up to? Well, last month I took my sister up to NYC for a week to celebrate her impending graduation from college. We ate plenty of delicious food and saw a majority of the tourist sites/museums. The main attraction was seeing Billy Joel play at Shea Stadium. This is something I promised we would do someday, and seeing him from front row was an awesome way to do it. Billy Joel was our Mother's favorite artist, so sharing that moment together help bring us closer. We both still miss Mom terribly, and a day doesn't go by that I personally don't think about her.

I received Season 4 of 24 today, and the first DVD has already been finished. :)

This is such a great series!

3:49 am - This is a must.
I'm buying this to display on the wall over my desk or somewhere prominant in my apartment. ;)

Purpose? To psyche myself out and correct this horrible streak I'm in.

4:04 am - 24 Update
I forgot to say, that I finished Season 3 within three weeks of viewing the first episode of Season 1.

Yeah, I got sucked into the show pretty hardcore!

Now I'm just waiting for Season 4 to come out on DVD. There is no way I'm going to be able to watch the televised episodes, waiting a whole week for next 'hour' to happen. Heheh.. :)

10:43 am - More 24 goodness.
Finished the first DVD which is 4 episodes. I've got the second DVD and plan to start watching it later today.

This show has caused me to update my subscription to 5 DVDs, because 3 out at once won't cut it.

This show is insanely good!

And the excitement [info]jenday is a true thing. I yelled at TV few times, even. :O

7:07 am - I'm gonna catch some grief for this.
Today the first season of 24 arrived on DVD from Netflix.

Holy crap! I've only watched two episodes and I'm already hooked.

Note, a year ago Joe poked me to watch the show or DL the episodes.

So, he's right.

Kickass show!

My only question is, do you have to go through multiple episodes to complete one plot/storyline?

That's gonna suck if it is the norm. Well, not on DVD but when I catched up to telivised episodes it'll suck having to wait for 'to be continued' results. Heh.

2:29 am - Holy cow! Estrogen attack!
Hopefully the title won't get me in too much trouble.

Met with a small group of women (yes, all women) from LJ tonight. See, I've been chatting with two in particular for over a year now but never made an appearance at the numerous gatherings that have taken place. [info]jenday and [info]bravesbelle to be specific. Both of them were exactly how I envisioned them personality wise, while their photographs did them no justice at all! (This is where I recover points after my title above. Heheh.) Seriously though, they both were two of the nicest, funniest, and cutest women I've ever met! (Ever met? Alright maybe that is pouring it a little too thick.) I really didn't get a chance to interact with the other three women, mainly because I didn't know them from online so our ability to converse were limited. Either way, I enjoyed listening to them all talk about numerous topics. :)

I'm sure there is more to say, but given it is almost 3am my brain is nearly fried.

One thing for sure, I've got to invite Jen over to watch 24 sometime! But I may want to get the DVDs and learn about the show beforehand, else she might give me a hard time for not knowing the source material. ;)

11:24 am - Internet Explorer has been dismissed!
That's right! I finally caved to all the 'you MUST try out FireFox' abuse my friends and associates have been assaulting me with.

Well the first great thing is the lack of popups and java crap that springs up on various websites. And FireFox seems to load a little faster than IE, so couple that with the (current) lack of securities holes I think I'm in love. Spoken like a true geek, yes I know. And with the customizations along with fact FireFox is only a 10mb download, everyone should try it out. ;)

My renovation is moving along slowly, but at least now a few deliveries have arrived with the goodies to get things done. The TV for video editing previewing should be mounted in the corner above my desk by this weekend and I'll be getting the quote from contractor on my bathroom work by tomorrow hopefully. That leaves going out to buy new chairs for my kitchen table and a new light to put in over said table.

Yes, I know I'm supposed to take photos. It'll happen eventually. ;)

Oh! Order myself season 1 & 2 of Red vs Blue on DVD last night. That is going to be fun to watch! http://www.redvsblue.com for the unfamiliar.

There is plenty more to write about but I'll spare you the details for now.

I will share this one tidbit: I ordered a bunch of cool stuff from http://www.philosophy.com which has resulted in a non-stop source of amusement for my friends. Come on. A guy can't interest in his hygeine without being 'labeled'? :P Haha.. Ah well.

8:32 am - Holy crap that took awhile!
I'm terrible about keeping my IE Favorites organized. So this morning I decided to go through and out everything in nice little folders named by content. I also deleted all the outdated links and ones I rarely visit anymore. This took a few hours to acomplish, to say the least. But I don't have to scroll down a long list to get to my links anymore and that's just darn efficient. ;)

Next.....

Backing up my hard drives and cleaning out my email folders.

Those are two things I'm dreading!

7:11 am - Everything is changing around me.
I've made a conscious decision to make a change to my environment.

What does this entail? A lot of things.

For starters I've been living in an apartment that was overcome by the mess of technology that inhabits it. It is time to put some order to the chaos and establish some theme to the decor. I've got bits and pieces of furniture that don't belong together. Why not? My kitchen table is stained a blonde color, my futon's frame is unstained, my desk is an oak shade. And then there is my entertainment center and matching bookshelf which are both stained a cherry color. I've also got a blonde filing cabinet between the desk and futon. Geeze, what I wouldn't give for advice from an interior designer at this moment. ;) I'm half tempted to go out and hire one just for a little insight.

To continue on the apartment issue the stuff on my walls has no rhythm either. White walls with various paintings everywhere. I'm considering getting a long mirror to put against the wall over my futon, that might give the illusion the room is bigger as a result. The only unfortunate part is that the paintings that ARE up are sentimental in some way. I may move them into the bedroom, but at this moment I'm unsure. Hrm.

Hell, I've got a digital camera. Guess I should snap some photos and post them seeking opinions from the LJ peanut gallery. ;)

....to be continued!

12:27 am - Lurk, lurk, and lurk some more..
The subject pretty much sums up my activity on LJ these past few months. I've been busy with various things but it doesn't justify my lack of posting in LJ. Hell, I check my friend's list multiple time daily yet don't have the time to make my own posts to update people on what I'm up to. I'm not even going to dare say it'll change, because that never made a difference before. ;)

Please feel free to yell at and try to motivate me. :)

1:06 am - Busy weekend.
Okay, so not really. I just finished Season 3 of Sopranos. Two more seasons to go before I can stop making faces at people and la-la-la'ing when they talk about the end of Season 5. ;)

6:04 am - Summer time is in full swing..
Which is a good thing save for the fact my bedroom doesn't get an of the AC from the living room's wall unit. I'm half tempted to buy a portable AC system before August gets here because it is already getting pretty damn hot in there at night. Then again I'm not sure if it'll be worth spending $500 that could be spent on my computer or techno-toy habbit. ;) Of which seems to be focused on video editing at the moment, doing work for a few clients along with personal projects. It's really easy to sink thousands of dollars on software and hardware to compliment the job. The real trick is knowing what is needed and overdoing it. ;)

One thing that I do want to accomplish this summer is meeting some of the cool Cincinnati LJ people. I may begin this plan by luring selected to dinner where I can analyze them. (Yes, I'm being silly in describing that plan, don't be afraid. Heheh..) Anyone want to volunteer as a test subject? There are some great places to meet and/or eat in Hyde Park, where I live. The only catch is interested parties will need to come here(to Hyde Park) since my transportation options are limited. Post a comment if you'd like to be a test subject. Muahahaha..

Alright, that's enough quirky posting for me, filled my quota today.

9:31 pm - What a weekend!
I can't believe how nice the weather has been the past few days. In fact I was starting to believe winter would never end with the rate things were going. The whole hot/cold changes ot on my nerves, especially when I'd make plans to go out and they go south.

Tonight should be entertaining. I'm going to Jillian's (the club, not the LJer) with a group of friends. The women want to go dancing and the guys have other plans: video games and pool. Note though the women don't mind the guys doing their thing. Of course they can't score free drinks if their boyfriends are present. Heheh. So, 4 guys playing pool and games with 2 women getting liquored up on the dancefloor. Afterwards the majority want to hit a strip club, probably Club Venus.

Like I said, it'll be an entertaining evening.

8:21 pm - It was a fight till the end!
Xavier didn't pull off a victory versus Duke tonight.

Everyone said it would be a blowout where Duke would smoke Xavier by 15-20 points. It was anything but that with the lead staying tight the whole game, both teams trading it back and forth. Xavier played aggressively against Duke, never admitting defeat. It was their first time to the Elite Eight.

How do I feel about the results? I doubt I could be any happier. Despite the loss Xavier has risen to the challenge of fighting through the tournement. They didn't crack under pressure once. And the whole team played with their hearts to the fullest.

Watching the tourney also brought back fond memories. My grandpa loved XU and their basketball program. Everytime I watched a game in his presence the whole room was alive with energy. It's a little saddening that he didn't live to see this accomplishment by Xavier. And I miss those special times (all of them) together with him. No matter, because I cheered his part along with my own. Thank you Xavier for awakening my nostalgia. For that I am eternally grateful.
